I would buy the 5-speed/new. Done it myself (also first bike for about 30 years). Despite the fact that here in Denmark we pay for 2 - but only gets 1 (taxes). Enjoy the low prices.
I've not tried the 4-speed. But my Savage runs perfectly well - also by 80-90 m/h (but here the windpressure is the problem - though so it should be)
